How to Make DIY Letter Envelope

Creating your own DIY letter envelope is a fun and creative way to add a personal touch to your correspondence. Whether you’re crafting a heartfelt letter for a loved one or looking to give a gift that’s truly unique, making your own envelope can be both a rewarding and enjoyable experience. In this article, we’ll guide you through the process of making a DIY letter envelope, step by step.

Here’s what you’ll need:

– Cardstock or heavy paper (8.5 x 11 inches)
– Scissors or a paper cutter
– A ruler
– A pencil
– Adhesive tape or glue
– Decorative items (optional, such as stamps, stickers, or washi tape)

Step 1: Measure and Cut the Paper

– Lay your cardstock or heavy paper on a flat surface.
– Using your ruler and pencil, mark the paper at 5.5 inches from the top and 2.5 inches from the left side.
– Repeat this on the opposite side of the paper.
– Cut along the marked lines to create two triangles from the paper.

Step 2: Create the Flaps

– Fold the two triangles you just cut in half, creating two smaller triangles.
– Fold these smaller triangles in half again, creating a crease at the top of each.
– Open the triangles and fold them in half the other way, creating a crease at the bottom of each.
– You should now have four smaller triangles with creases at the top and bottom.

Step 3: Attach the Flaps

– Apply adhesive tape or glue to the bottom of the triangles on one side of the paper.
– Press the bottom of the triangle to the top of the paper, creating a flap.
– Repeat this process on the other side of the paper.

Step 4: Decorate Your Envelope

– This is where you can get creative! Add stamps, stickers, washi tape, or any other decorative items to personalize your envelope.
– You can also write the recipient’s address and your return address on the front of the envelope.

Step 5: Insert Your Letter

– Place your letter inside the envelope, making sure it fits comfortably.
– Close the envelope by pressing the flaps together and securing them with more adhesive tape or glue if needed.

And there you have it! You’ve successfully made a DIY letter envelope. Not only does it add a personal touch to your correspondence, but it also demonstrates your creativity and thoughtfulness. Happy crafting!
